Learn to touch type.
One key at a time.
A course that introduces every key in order, lights up the finger that presses it, and scores you until it sticks. From the home row to full paragraphs, with tests, games and a stats page that knows which keys you miss.
Nine units, in the order your fingers learn
Every lesson adds two keys and mixes them into everything you already know. The first unit is free.
How a lesson goes
- Meet the keys. Two new keys, the finger for each, and a short pattern to feel the reach.
- Drill them. Short bursts of the new keys, then mixed into everything you know.
- Type words. Real words spelled from the keys you have, as soon as there are enough.
- Find the rhythm. Longer groups at an even beat. Speed is a side effect of this.
- Lesson check. Scored for stars. Two stars passes; five means it is yours.
Speed comes from accuracy, never the other way around.
The course is built around that sentence. Accuracy earns the first two stars; speed against a target earns the rest, so getting the key right is always the fastest way forward.
Beyond the lessons
Hands and keyboard on screen
The next key lights up and so does the finger. Your eyes stay on the screen, which is the whole trick.
Drills that know your weak keys
Every keystroke is measured. Drills lean on the keys you miss, and a practice mode targets them outright.
Timed tests and certificates
One, three and five minute tests, with a printable certificate for each.
Two games
Word Rain and Sprint, for the days a lesson feels like homework.
Stats that mean something
Speed over time, minutes per day against your goal, a per-key heat map, streaks and badges.
A profile for everyone
One subscription, a profile per person, each with their own progress, layout and settings.
QWERTY, Dvorak, Colemak
A real course for each layout, built from its own home row outward.
Your own text
Paste a chapter, a speech, anything you want to type faster, and practice on that.
Ten minutes a day
The Home Row unit is free, no card needed. The rest is a subscription, with 3 days free first.
Not open yet. The people who ask first pay less.
Home Row Hero is finished enough to use and not finished enough to sell. Leave an address and you get the beta build before anybody else, and the first year at $29 instead of $39 on the day it opens. One message when that happens, and nothing in between.
